This portrait photograph of an old elephant was taken at a salt lick in the tree tops of Kenya. The aged thick grey hide shows many lines and texture detail. Elephants are mammals, and the largest land animals alive today. An elephant may live as long as 70 years, sometimes longer.
Elephants are symbols of wisdom in Asian cultures, and are famed for their memory and high intelligence. Aristotle once said the elephant was “the beast which passeth all others in wit and mind.”
