San Francisco is one of the top tourist destinations in the world and is famous for its cool summers, eerie fog, steep rolling hills, cable cars and Alcatraz Island. San Francisco is Spanish for “Saint Francis” and was founded in 1776 when colonists from Spain established a fort at the Golden Gate and a mission named for St. Francis of Assisi. San Francisco is one of the richest cities on the planet, ranking fourth in the world after New York, London and Moscow. An important tourist spot in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge which is the worlds second longest single span bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is continuously painted because the bridge is so long that by the time the paint crew gets from one end to the other, it's time to start over again. In 1906, San Francisco was devastated by a huge earthquake which not only brought many buildings down but also caused a fire which lasted for days. This unique art print shows the classic hilly streets with the Golden gate Bridge in the background. Photography by Tim Wallace.
