Read any car review of the Ferrari 458 Speciale and just about all of them give it 5 stars out of 5. It really is that good. Derived from the incredible 458 Italia supercar, it features even more advanced technical wizardry that makes it faster and more hardcore than before. As if the original 458 wasn’t powerful enough, the engine now produces 597bhp, up from 562bhp and the whole car is 90kg lighter. The signature stripes give you an immediate realisation that this is a Ferrari ‘Speciale’. James May once pointed out “I noticed the stripe costs almost exactly the same as a basic Dacia Sandero.”
It’s a Ferrari built for the track but is just as accessible on the road, as long as you can handle the power! Featuring one of Ferrari’s most potent V8 engines inspired by their own Formula 1 extensive knowledge, it hits 62mph in a spine-tingling 3 seconds flat and can take you to well over 200mph if you are feeling that brave and have enough track ahead of you.
Of course you would have needed plenty of money for a 458 Speciale which would have cost over £200,000 before options. However, they sold out pretty quickly. So the best bet for most of us is to buy a Ferrari 458 Speciale wall print on canvas, acrylic or poster. Granted, it won’t thrill you like a drive in one but this print by Tim Wallace will have you dreaming about one for years to come.
This video by the Autocar team shows why this Ferrari 458 is such an Italian masterpiece…
